On Sunday October 21, 2012 the Clarkstown Police arrested three individuals for driving while intoxicated.
At approximately 12:05 AM the Clarkstown Police received a report of a possible domestic dispute occurring in a vehicle which was driving south on Rt 303 in West Nyack. A 2007 Mercedes-Benz was subsequently stopped just south of the Rt 59 intersection.
The driver was identified as Robert Corey, 44, from Pearl River. Corey appeared to be intoxicated and was administered field sobriety tests in which he failed. Corey was placed under arrest and transported to Clarkstown Police Headquarters were he submitted to a breathalyzer test in which he also failed. Corey was arraigned in Clarkstown Justice Court by Judge Gerber and remanded to the Rockland County Correctional Facility in lieu of $2500 bail. Corey is due back in court on 10/22/12 to answer operating a motor vehicle with greater than .18 blood alcohol and two other driving while intoxicated charges all of which are felonies.
At approximately 3:45 AM the Clarkstown Police responded to Brewery Rd in New City for a report of a motor vehicle accident. Ryan Buchanan 22, from New City was driving a 1996 Honda north on Brewery Rd, lost control of the vehicle and struck a tree. The vehicle sustained heavy front end damage. Buchanan sustained minor injuries during the accident and was transported to Nyack Hospital. He was placed under arrest for driving while intoxicated and submitted to a blood test. Buchanan was issued an appearance ticket for driving while intoxicated misdemeanor pending the results of the blood test. He is due to be arraigned in Clarkstown Justice Court on 11/19/12.
At approximately 08:30 AM the Clarkstown Police Responded to a report of a hit and run accident which occurred on Pipetown Hill Rd in Nanuet. A 2000 Ford pickup truck rear-ended another vehicle which was waiting for a red traffic signal. The driver of the pickup truck then fled eastbound on foot leaving the pickup truck behind blocking traffic on Pipetown Hill Rd. Police canine tracked and located the driver a short distance away who was identified as Manuel Vega, 41 from Spring Valley. Vega was placed under arrest and transported to Clarkstown Police Headquarters where field sobriety tests were administered and which he failed. Vega refused to submit to a breathalyzer test to determine his blood alcohol concentration. Vega was arraigned before Judge Gerber and remanded to the Rockland County Correctional Facility in lieu of $5000 bail. Vega is due back in court on 10/25/12 to answer driving while intoxicated (felony), false personation (misdemeanor), leaving the scene of an accident and other traffic infractions.
