Dyker Heights. FDNY was on scene battling a large blaze that consumed two houses that left multiple families without their homes.
911 started getting calls right before midnight late Saturday night on September 12, for a house fire at 1330 74th street, when FD members arrived on scene they were met with huge flames, the fire quickly spread to the entire house and due to strong winds spread to the house on the right, leading to the FDNY upgrading the fire to a 5th alarn assignment.
Twelve people in total were evacuated from both homes including an off-duty firefighter from Engine-202 which himself helped evacuate his neighbors and family, The fire was brought under control after 3 hours.
12 Firefighters were treated with non-life threatening injuries.
